General information:

  • When feeding your dog with a veterinary diet you should consult your vet regularly for check-ups.
  • If your dog's health deteriorates please seek veterinary advice immediately.

veterinary health nutrition

Recently there has been a dramatic increase in overweight and obese pets. A common cause of excess weight in pets is over-feeding and under-exercising. Energy requirements have changed since nowadays many dogs spend most of their lives inside. They do not get the chance to run around a lot which means that they cannot burn the energy they consume, so these calories are stored as fat.
Being overweight not only affects your pet's well-being, it can also have long-term effects on your pet's health and ultimately reduce its life expectancy.
It is important to make sure your dog is the right weight. If your dog is a short-haired breed its waist and ribs should be just visible. If your dog is a long haired breed you should be able to feel its ribs easily. If you cannot see or feel the ribs your pet is overweight (or rather, if already on a diet, it has not yet achieved its ideal weight).
support your dog's health with Royal Canin satiety weight management
Royal Canin Veterinary - Satiety Support SAT 30 is a complete dog food for dogs which need to lose weight. It has a low energy density and will help your pet to lose weight. The high protein content, as well as high fibre content will help your dog to feel full and satisfied.
The kibble has a low energy density so the volume of daily food can be reduced up to 32% compared with other diet food.

a science-based formula to help your dog reach a healthy weight
Indications:

  • Obesity
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Fibre responsive colitis
  • Constipation
  • Hyperlipidaemia
  • Overweight

Contraindications :
  • Pregnancy or lactation, puppies

Key benefits:

  • High protein content: this can help to maintain muscle mass throughout the weight loss period.
  • High fibre: Fibres that increase the feeding volume while lowering energy density. Carefully selected fibres ensure that your dog feels full up quickly and that this feeling of satiety lasts for a long time.
  • Balanced nutrients: A high concentration of minerals and vitamins help to compensate for the energy restrictions and ensure a balanced supply of vital nutrients.
  • Joint support : Chondroitin sulphate and glucosamin help to maintain normal mobility in the highly stressed joints of obese pets and have a positive effect on degenerative joint disease.

Changing your pet's diet and length of treatment:

The length of time your pet needs to stay on a reducing diet depends on how much weight needs to be lost. Weight should be lost slowly to ensure your pet stays healthy and only loses fat tissue from the body. Ideal weight loss is 1 to 3% of the bodyweight per week. Once your dog has reached its target weight it should be weighed regularly to ensure that it maintains an ideal body weight .You can help it to stay in shape with Royal Canin Weight Control, Weight & Osteo or Neutered products.
mix dry & wet for an optimal feeding experience

Satiety Support SAT30
I purchased this for my slightly over weight food intolerant labrador and have to admit it suits her tummy and keeps her at the right weight I'm really impressed, thankful and pleased at the price, ok it's not in a resealable bag but I store mine in my old kitchen bin which really serves the purpose

Storage
Reading a review re non resealable bag. I store mine in a plastic child's toy dustbin. My son had when he was small for his Lego. It's ideal with a clip tight lid. The food stays fresh . Any sealable plastic container should do the trick.

Freshness issues
Our dog likes the food which is a good start. However, we ordered the large bag, and expected that the bag would be resealable and keep the kibble fresh. Unfortunately, the bag does not have a seal once it is open, which means the kibble is likely to go stale quickly, which defeats the purpose of buying a more economical larger bag rather than the small ones. Given how expensive the food is and the size of the bag, I think it is very poor that the bag cannot be resealed to keep the contents fresh. Are there any plans to change this?

Worth it.
Advised this diet via our Vets for out Fox-red lab who has had 2yrs of surgery for Elbow- Dysplasia of both forelimbs. Having problems with movement etc put some extra weight on but couldn't exercise more due to condition. He's only done 6wks & already lost 3 1/2 kgs & many inches, looks better & is much more lively. Are continuing with this food ,definitely works.

Excellent diet food
My dog gained weight through being unable to walk far because of painful joints. He was prescribed anti-inflammatories and also needed to lose the excess weight, so Royal Canin Satiety Support SAT 30 was prescribed by the vet. I was dubious if he would eat it - it looked boring to me, but he loves it. This will be his 4th 12KG sack and he shows no signs of rejecting his food. He is satisfied and (extra bonus for me) his poo is dry, light and very easy to pick up. No mess, no smell! Another bonus was finding BITIBA, through a friend's recommendation because at the price charged, I saved £10 on previous purchases through different suppliers. So I recommend the product and the supplier.

Royal Canin satiety 30,
After trying every other way to get my 16 month, food driven, dumpster diving, food stealing labrador to lose weight, I tried this, because of nutritional values for joints, bones, muscle & coat etc & she has lost 3 kg, just 1 more to go! Fits into Kong wobble feeder & The Green, which I also got from here, making her use her brain too & slowing her eating down. Had lots of comments about how healthy she looks and her coat. Delivery has always been efficient & well packaged.

GREAT WEIGHT LOSS
At the request of our Vet, we had to put our 2 year old Golden Retriever on this Satiety Diet. The vet wanted a slow reduction. So started April 2014 @ 45 kg. and now our boy is at 36 kg. We are aiming for 35 kg.- weigh in at end of this month. This is fantastic food and an excellent price at Bitiba. Highly recommended.

My little dog has a new lease of life!
My 6yr old Lhasa Apso bitch had been suffering from colitis for some months. She was very unhappy, had lost a lot of weight and had repeated courses of antibiotics and steroids from the vets. Eventually my vet suggested the Royal Canin Hypoallergenic food. She has now been on this for a few months and has a new lease of life! I am delighted. Yes, the food is quite expensive, but not as expensive repeated vets bills! Plus my dog is happy again!
