Despite initial appearances, the French Bulldog is the very opposite of moody: it is a loving and playful dog that can’t get enough attention and petting.
Its body is compact and and muscular, and the French Bulldog is very agile despite its short legged build. These short legs are also the root cause of its tendency towards joint problems. The French Bulldog’s short face and muzzle (brachycephalic jaw) means it has a slender respiratory tract which leads to short and laboured breathing, in turn causing a reduced intake of oxygen. This means French Bulldogs often suffer flatulence amongst other ailments. Its unique facial structure has led the French Bulldog to develop a specific feeding mechanism, one that should be factored into choice of dog food.
Royal Canin French Bulldog Adult has been created especially to cater to the nutritional demands of the French Bulldog once they reach the age of 12 months. Two of the most important tasks of a dog food are strengthening the muscles and keeping the joints healthy.
- Muscle protection: with increased L-carnitine to burn fat, and ideal levels of protein to ensure lean muscle mass.
- Healthy joints: thanks to chondroitin, glucosamine and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA & DHA
- Reduced fermentation: with highly digestible protein which limit unnecessary bacterial fermentation (which also leads to less flatulence) and supports healthy function of the immune system. Fructo-oligo-saccharides promote healthy gut flora.
- Specially designed kibble: tailored to the feeding mechanism of the French Bulldog. It promotes intensive chewing which is good for dental health and maximises food intake.
